Oh Joyce, when I first phoned you many years ago, I was told by my Aunt Diane you were the authority on all things regarding genealogy. Since I had been researching the family for about 5 years, I wondered how much you could really help. On that first call you said “Let me know what names and dates you have and I’ll tell you how much you have right.” I quickly realized I have much to learn. I felt humbled and excited to have you in my life. On every bi-annual visit to either Miller Lake or Lion’s Head I never stopped learning. You never tired of my questions, instead you invited conversation. It excited you telling me something I didn’t know, you loved to help. All this time, you let me think I was the family’s lead genealogist, but it was really you all along. You went from someone I didn’t know existed 16 years ago, to become one of the most important people in my life. I promise to put to use everything you taught me. I hope Nicolette finds a good home.
