Sad to come across this end to such a long life of someone to whom, indeed to whose family, I owe so much. They took me in as a stranger from Annfield Plain in, what, 1978, from a reference by the Dodds family (who knew my parents), on my wanderings through Canada (and later, USA). Such tolerance and love towards a rather immature young Brit were like being rescued and put on a new path. I can only hope there may be someone who will have benefited half as much by my life. I wish you all the very best, and the ability to focus on those good memories and experiences, where we all live on in the lives of others. Steve Brenton

I was saddened to hear of the death of Frances. I came to know her and Maitland when I was the minister of the Lion's Head United Church Pastoral Charge between 1978-81. Frances came across to me as a wise, gentle, caring person, devoted to Maitland, her children, her wider family and her community. I last saw her a couple of years ago in her apartment at the Golden Dawn and enjoyed her friendly, bright conversation which included a shared enjoyment of the northeast England detective 'Vera'.
I shall always think of her and Maitland when we drive in the summer to Patricia's cottage in Tobermory.

I fondly remember Frances and the summer days I spent on Maitland’s and Francés’ farm when my mother and I lived in WIARTON. We met them in 1951 on a ship returning from England and learned both my mother and Frances were British war bridesmaids. As we all lived on the Bruce, we were often invited to the Warder family farms for social gatherings and enjoyed great meals and the very best homemade ice cream. I recall Frances taught me how to make yummy hermit cookie during one of my summer stays, I am truly sorry for your family’s loss of a dear lady, mother and grandmother. God Bless.

To Owen, Pam, Roy and Valerie…so very sorry to learn of the passing of your dear Mom. Frances was a kind and gracious woman, full of warmth and elegance. All of the Warders were very special to my Mom, Vera. We used to love to come up to Lions Head for Decoration Sundays at the cemetery, followed by lots of good food at the farm house on the edge of town. Both Frances and Maitland were always welcoming and engaging at these special family events. God bless her as she goes upward into the Light…with a hug, Brian Baetz
